BREAKING: Fox News host Tucker Carlson was noticeably absent from his show on Thursday night, as Ed Henry sat in for him. Now, the reason behind this has been revealed.
Mediaite reported that Carlson missed the show because he was rushed to the hospital with a high fever. There, he was diagnosed with appendicitis by doctors.
Appendicitis is a sickness in which the appendix becomes swollen and painful due to it becoming full of puss. The disease can lead to death if it is not treated soon enough.
“Tucker is now being treated for appendicitis,” Fox News said in a statement. “He is in good spirits and expects to back on the air soon.”
It is unclear how long Tucker will be gone. But right now, he is in critical condition, spending nights at the doctor’s.
Friday night’s episode of Carlson’s show was covered by Dana Perino.
Matt Drudge reported that cable stars–including Tucker and Rachel Maddow on MSNBC–have been having medical issues at a higher-than-normal rate. It is possible that the stress and pressure of hosting a primetime cable show, as the competition tightens in the age of Trump, could be weakening the hosts’ immune systems.
We hope Carlson gets well soon and will keep you up-to-date as more information about his condition becomes available.
