The city of Chicago, Illinois has some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. When liberals put these laws in place, they claimed that the crime rate will dramatically fall in the city. However, despite what Democrats say, these gun laws have done nothing to lower the high gun crime rate in Chicago.
The ineffectiveness of these gun laws was proven once again this week when three people were killed and four were wounded in shootings across Chicago between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. The Chicago Tribune reported that the most recent homicide saw a 28 year-old man shot in an apparent attempted carjacking in the Noble Square neighborhood on the Near Northwest Side at around 2:05am on Thursday.
The man was reportedly dropping off a woman when a gunman approached him and demanded his vehicle. When the 28 year-old refused to give it up, he was shot in the torso. He ended up being able to drive away, but he then crashed into a parked vehicle.
A 25 year-old man was fatally shot at around 8:30pm on Wednesday in a drive-by-shooting in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The victim was standing on a sidewalk with a 23 year-old man when someone in a dark-colored SUV drove by and fired shots. The deceased victim was hit in the chest and right torso while his friend is in critical condition after being shot in the left arm and abdomen.
A 25 year-old man was standing on a sidewalk in the Austin neighborhood at around 3pm when a vehicle drove up and it’s occupant opened fire on him. The victim was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.
This is just a small taste of the rampant gun violence that plagues Chicago every day. Clearly, stricter gun laws are NOT the answer to lowering gun crime rates!
